Mineral makeup made my face itch. Does your makeup cause this?
Bismuth Oxychloride is an ingredient in some mineral makeup that is known to cause irritation and acne in some people. It can also cause an unwanted shine to your skin. We do not use this ingredient in our products.
What are the ingredients in your mineral foundation?
Mica (and) Magnesium Myristate, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Boron Nitride, Iron Oxides, Kaolin Clay, Magnesium Stearate (Vegetable Derived), Silk Powder, Silica, Allantoin
We do not use micronized powders to make our products.
Does your powder contain an SPF?
While all powders containing titanium dioxide or zinc oxide offer barrier protection from the sun, we cannot indicate a specific level of SPF without getting costly testing done, as per FDA regulations. Because we are a small company, this testing is not affordable to us at this time.
Are Ocean Mist Minerals safe for my skin?
Anyone can wear our mineral makeup! It is suitable for all skin types and ideal for oily skin, dry skin, sensitive skin, problem skin, acne-prone skin, healing skin, rosacea, scarring & other skin ailments.
Are your minerals good for problem skin?
ABSOLUTELY! I have rosacea and very oily skin. This is how I got started in mineral makeup. Our makeup helps keep my inflammation down and acne to a bare minimum! That is, if I have any at all now! The natural minerals can reduce irritation and redness while helping heal and soothe. It's actually very good for your skin.
Are your minerals good for dry skin/oily skin?
Our foundations contain ingredients beneficial to oily and dry skin! You’ll be amazed! We also offer additional products such as a rice powder based mineral veil and our fabulous Silken Perfection face powder!

How do I choose my foundation shade?
We recommend getting samples to see which color might be best for you. With minerals, you can mix and match different foundations to get your perfect color. If you need help determining your skin undertones, please see our Skin Tone guide.
What sets Ocean Mist Cosmetics apart from other makeup companies?
We are a small family owned company that wants to keep a personal touch in our business. You are more than welcome to email us with any questions or concerns that you have. Our products are made in a small smoke-free studio and we adhere to strict guidelines in good manufacturing practices. Our minerals are 100% cosmetic grade and never touch human hands! We use our own products and would not put anything in them that we would feel to be unsafe.
Can minerals expire or go bad?
Minerals are inert and cannot support microbial growth. We do not use oils, cornstarch, or other ingredients that could cause contamination. Make sure you clean your brushes and do not get your minerals wet! If you want to wet your minerals do it in a different mixing container or in your lid to avoid wetting the minerals in your primary container.
Why are your products so inexpensive?
We are a small, family owned company that works together. There are 5 of us doing various jobs such as website maintenance, marketing, mixing and packaging, making product labels, etc. There is no middleman so our savings are your savings!
Where should I start when purchasing minerals?
We offer a FREE "Try Me" sampler kit for first time customers! This is the best place to start to be able to pick the shade that is best for your skin tone. This way, you can try out our products before you purchase a full size product. You will also receive free product samples with each order!
What is your return policy?
